Just hours after the Tony Awards wrapped, theater executives are already searching for Broadway’s next hit number.
Producer Dianne Fraser already has her idea -- she wants to bring Gilligan’s Island: The Musical to life!
We suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised.
With Beauty and the Beast, Legally Blonde, and, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark being only a few examples, theater execs have mined Hollywood for content before.
Still, they’re turning a ‘60s TV show about a group of misfits deserted on an island into a three hour tour stage play??
Do most theater-goers even remember Gilligan's Island?? Maybe they should've acquired the rights to Surivor, LOLz!
Fraser insists her plan is foolproof. She said:
“It’s the type of show where you can stunt cast with movie stars to play the Howells, Ginger, even the Professor... Maybe an American Idol contestant to play Gilligan, to open up the show.”
An Idol contestant?? Hmmm.
We guess Gilligan and James Durbin DO have similar ears!!
