Ugh! Talk about your growing pains!!!
Child actor and adult bigot Kirk Cameron has an interesting new take on same sex marriage!
He's still against it, apparently, but not preoccupied with it. He's less interested in fighting against it tooth-and-nail because he believes there are bigger fish to fry!
Bigger fish, in this case, is a metaphor for "adulterers" and "fornicators." While Kirk of course doesn't plan to literally fry them, we guess he thinks a pitchfork-wielding demon will take care of that once they're sent to the lake of fire for their sins.
Uh, cool story, bro!
Kirk held a seminar about marriage in Alabama last month and his words were surprising. He revealed:
"When people get too focused on redefining marriage, you're distracted from the bigger problem - fornicators and adulterers... If the people sitting in the pews are fornicators and adulterers, the church will destroy marriages much more quickly than those outside the church. When God's people mock marriage, God doesn't take that lightly."
While he didn't come out and say anything negative about gay marriage, he is talking smack about fornication which is sex between folks who are unwed. Which includes a lot of same-sex couples considering that they're still actively being denied the right to marry in over 30 states.
In an interview, Kirk went on to say:
"I think the greatest threat to marriage is not other people's definition of marriage... The church isn't taking God's definition of marriage seriously. It's not other people sabotaging marriage that's the problem."
While we don't agree with Kirk's view, we appreciate his family's willingness to debate their ideas civilly.
