Chelsea Handler didn't help to stifle speculation that she could replace Craig Ferguson yesterday!
But is the network really ready to give Craig the boot? Well, as much as they protest, CBS still hasn't extended the Late Late Show host's contract through next year!
And according to an inside source, even if they don't straight up let him go, CBS could be opting to make Craig an offer he CAN refuse! The source says:
"He's not exactly in the driver’s seat when it comes down to negotiating."
But whatever their plans are regarding the 12:30 spot, the Eye is staying shut tight for now. And it isn't ready to wink along with Chelsea either! In a statement, CBS said:
"There are no discussions with Chelsea Handler regarding the network's 12:30 late night broadcast. Her meeting with CBS yesterday was a general meeting with our syndication [division.]"
Well, as much as we're hoping for a female voice on network late night, it sounds like it won't be Chelsea- at least not right now...
