A few weeks ago, a satirical site called The News Nerds published an outrageous article about Patti Labelle and Aretha Franklin getting into a little tiff.
The satirical site "reported":
"While Aretha Franklin was making her way to the stage, Labelle extended her hand to greet the “Respect” singer, when she threw epic shade in an effort to avoid her."
Needless to say, the Respect singer did not take too kindly to their fake claims.
A few days after the fake story went viral, Aretha posted a response, dismissing the scuffle between the two songstresses, but apparently that wasn't enough!
In fact, Aretha just filed a $10 million lawsuit against The Onion wannabe site!
Through her publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn, the queen of soul said:
"The stories were not presented as satire or humor. It was presented as a serious news story intended to depict me in a slanderous and derogatory way — defamation of character."
Jeez.
The News Nerds better prepare because this diva is NOT messing around.
