It sounds as though Demi Lovato has really defeated a lot of her past, personal demons, and utilized her new-found strength to mend the fences of a lot of past broken relationships with friends...and now, ex-boyfriends!
The brave young starlet recently opened up about becoming close again to her longtime bestie Selena Gomez , and in a new interview, reveals that re-building her relationship with former love Joe Jonas has been especially difficult, given her pain and heartbreak over their 2010 split!
But all of that is in the past now!
As she explains:
"We were in a relationship and we broke up, and at one point, I was really mad at him. When you go through heartbreaks and things like that, you always have in mind somebody. It's like when you hear a song on the radio that reminds you of somebody, you're going to be reminded. But keeping that in mind…it's a delicate balance. Now, I can, fortunately, say, that him and his brother Nick , have always been there for me, and are literally family, and like brothers. We have a great friendship. And we may not be as close as we used to be, but that's OK."
Aww! That's really sweet!
We can't imagine it could have been all too easy for him, either - seeing as when they were together, she was still making the decisions that led to her trip to rehab later that year!
So glad to hear that time, patience and communication were able to heal those old wounds, you guys, and that you now are able to support each other's recent successes!
We hope other heartbroken exes can learn from your example!
