We think it's safe to say that A CERTAIN ENTERTAINMENT NEWS PUBLICATION just sky-rocketed to the top of J.J. Abrams' shit list!
To be fair, Benedict Cumberbatch's much-publicized and speculated-upon role as the mysterious, nefarious "John Harrison" in the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness has been long-rumored to be a red herring, as he's actually playing the iconic villain Khan, a genetically enhanced human tyrant!
But for those of you hoping to wait until the flick's premiere to find out the truth about the character's origins are going to be super disappointed...because according to promotional materials for Entertainment Weekly's upcoming issue, which dedicates two different covers to the sci-fi extravaganza both also featuring Chris Pine , Benedict is DEFINITELY bringing Khan into J.J.'s interpretation of the franchise!

Our heart goes out to whomever had the supreme misfortune of being responsible for that...because we have a feeling his or her ass was shown the door before the page's text was even adjusted!
But hey! For all you Trekkies having coniptions over being spoiled!
Keep in mind that this series follows an entirely different timeline than the original!
Even though we're pretty positive Khan is coming, he could be an ENTIRELY different incarnation of the character!
And if anyone can re-create that role - and make entirely his own, while equally bad-ass - it is our beloved Benedict!
