Obviously the boys of fun. have talent squirting out of every orifice AND have been in the music biz for YEARS, so their multiple Grammy wins last night are definitely warranted...
BUT it wasn't until the kids on Glee covered the band's now infamous track We Are Young during a December 2011 episode that the single -- which was actually released back in September 2011 -- rose in popularity by 1,650%!!
THEN, with a little help from a 2012 Super Bowl commercial which used We Are Young as its soundtrack, the tune began tumbling out of EVERYONE's lips and became one of the HIGHlight songs of Summer 2012!
Ch-ch-check out the delightful Gleeky rendition of We Are Young off of Some Nights (above)!
Surprisingly, the peeps over at Glee were initially hesitant to include an "unknown" pop song in their show.
Glee music supervisor PJ Bloom said last year:
"Glee doesn’t break bands We celebrate existing pop success-that’s our core model."
But after warming to the tune, he sent it over to Ryan Murphy and, well, a year or so later fun. is garnering multiple Grammys!
Congratz, boys! And perhaps give a little credit where credit is due? LOLz!
