If you like feel-good films, romantic comedies, Neil Diamond and Jewish comedy, then The Other Josh Cohen is a must-see!!!! It's got all that, PLUS some really great songs!
Now playing off-Broadway at SoHo Rep, the musical was written by and stars Broadway vets David Rossmer and Steve Rosen. It's the antithesis of Spring Awakening!
We had the pleasure of seeing it Saturday night and it had us grinning from ear to ear throughout the whole show. A pop culture junkie's wet dream, the musical is filled with references from Star Wars to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It sweetly tells the tale of the affable titular character and his many unlucky attempts at finding love - hilariously!
Like Once, The Other Josh Cohen also features an ensemble of actors who play their own instruments in the show. And they are all stellar!
This is a sweet, quirky, indie/crossover film waiting to happen!
