The honeymoon is officially over for Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie!
By most accounts, NBC's coverage of the outstanding 2012 Olympic games in London is vastly inferior to, say, watching an infected wound fester.
The ratings for pre and post-event coverage are disappointingly low.
We don't know whether to blame tape delays, the lingering Ann Curry hangover, or anchor performance issues!
We do know the network shipped in veteran anchor Hoda Kotb because they are severely displeased!
One insider revealed:
"They're just shoehorning her into the show to help bring it alive. They called Hoda on Thursday begging her to go to London because they said it wasn’t working like they thought."
The numbers during the actual games are holding steady and most critics agree that Ryan Seacrest and Meredith Vieira are performing competently.
Yet somehow the network manages to get shellacked by GMA on the lead-in. Maybe Curry karma is Matt and Savannah are sinking the show!?
We have no idea what will happen from here!
R U rooting for the Today team to flop because Curry's canning or R U only tuning in to watch the games?
