Ay, Carumba! Simpsons Stamps Cost USPS $1.2 Million

D’oh!

The United States Postal Service took a huge gamble when they manufactured ONE BILLION special Simpsons stamps.

They were trying to mimic the success they had back in the 90's when they did the same thing, but with Elvis Presley's image.

Surprisingly, the stamps were a huge success! Oh, wait...

...Sorry we forgot to add a word. The stamps were NOT a huge success. In fact - they were basically a total failure as they only sold 318 million of 'em.

Here's what one report said:

"We found the Postal Service overproduced 2 billion commemorative and special issue stamps during calendar years 2009 and 2010, resulting in...unnecessary manufacturing costs for stamps that were later destroyed."

Listen, we love the Simpsons as much as anyone, but we're not going to go out our way to buy their stamps.
